Langley Rivermen were in the Festive Spirit!!!!!

Monday marked the delivery day for the food and teddy's that were contributed by our awesome fans.  Captain Ryan Bakken, Ray Bell, Sebastien Pare and yours truly made a stop at the Langley Memorial Hospital Pediatric ward to hand deliver all the teddy's.  The kids were so happy to see us.  I did my usual high fives with all the kids and man does my hand hurt still.  The smiles on the faces of these kids was well worth it.

The next stop for us was to the Langley Food Bank where we had 3 bins full of non-perishable food to drop off.  The people at the food bank were very happy to see us and said that we did a great job getting lots of food.

Right now I am putting my feet up and taking a nice break from all my cheering that I have been doing this season so far.  I would like to extend best wishes to a safe and happy holidays to all and the Rivermen fans out there.

As for now your up to date.  See you at the rink.

Goals, Teddy Bears, and Vidos. OH MY!!!!!!!

It was another great night of generosity by the best fans in the BCHL.  Saturday marked the first ever Teddy Bear Toss in Rivermen history and when Evan Campbell scored the first goal of the game, it all of a sudden started raining teddy's.  With the ice surface completely littered there was no doubt that this event was a huge success.  Many sick children at the Langley Memorial Hospital will be so grateful of the support you fans have shown.  We at the Langley Rivermen would like to thank you fans once again for your contribution.  I would also like to thank the Price George Spruce Kings Hockey Club for their patience during the delay when the toys were being retrieved.

Another special guest that night was the band Vidos.   Vidos played live before and during the game.  They played cover tunes and even unveiled some of their own material.  Wonderful job by these guys and a special thank you to them for entertaining us with your great musical talent.

As the Rivermen have settled into a Christmas break, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to a safe and happy holiday.  And remember the Rivermen will be back at it on Wednesday December 28th when we host the Cowichan Valley Capitals @ 7pm.  Make sure you get your tickets at langleyrivermen.com, at the LEC Box Office or call (604)882-8800.

Thank you for the Generosity!!!!!

Rivermen fans you need to be applauded for your generous contribution to the Langley Food Bank.  Tonights game against the Powell River Kings saw you fans bring in 2 garbage dumpsters full of non-perishable food items.  There are many families that need the food bank to get through their day to day life.  For this, the Langley Rivermen would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  You truly showed why we have the best fans in the league.

Tomorrow night is our first annual Teddy Bear Toss night.  Fans, you are encouraged to bring a soft toy and teddy bears to the game against the Prince George Spruce Kings and when the Rivermen score the first goal of the game then let the soft toys fly.  All toys will be donated to the children at Langley Memorial Hospital who are sick during the holiday season.  This is for a great cause, so come on out and support.  Puck drop is 7pm.  You can your tickets at langleyrivermen.com, at the box office or by phone @ (604)882-8800.

Special Thanks to Fortis BC.

The great promotions keep coming at the LEC during the Langley Rivermen games.  Last night was no exception as the game night sponsor was Fortis BC.  They had a booth set up with games and prizes for everyone.  They also gave out tips on how to save energy throughout your home.  A BIG thank you to Fortis BC for coming out to our game to help cheer on the 'Riv' even though the team came up short to the Express by a score of 6-3.

Tonight, the entertainment keeps on going as we welcome Orbit the band to the LEC for your listening pleasure. Orbit is a local band and they are very entertaining.  They will be playing before the game and during the intermissions.  Also, tonight we welcome back Natasha Zimbaro who will tantalize your ear drums with her smooth sounding singing voice.  Come on out and enjoy the entertainment on and off the ice tonight.  For tickets visit langleyrivermen.com or call the box office at (604)882-8800.

Movember Madness Comes to a End!!!

Wednesday night was a great success on and off the ice at the LEC.  Not only did the Rivermen defeat the Eagles from Surrey by a final score of 6-1, but a lot of firemen and 2 coaches have very cold upper lips after a mass shave off.

During the second intermission of the game, 10 Township of Langley Firefighters and 1 Father of one of the Firefighters plus Rivermen associate coaches Bobby Henderson and Jordan Emmerson joined us at centre ice to finally rid themselves of the overgrown hair that had taken up shop on their upper lips.  Mark Paine Sr.  the father of one of the firefighters pledged to shave his mustache, which he has had for 42 years, if his son was able to raise $500 dollars.  Well guess what?  He did and in turn Mark Sr. had to shave baby shave.  He was a great sport.

Theses gentlemen grew their mustache's for the whole month in order to support the awareness of men's cancer's.  A special thank you to the Canadian Cancer Society Langley Chapter, Langley Township Firefighters and Mark Paine Sr., Bobby Henderson and Jordan Emmerson, and to Wild Child Tattoo and Hair Salon for providing the shaving services.

Next up for the 'Riv' is Friday vs. Coquitlam Express and Saturday vs. Cowichan Valley Capitals.  Both games start at 7pm.  Make sure you get your tickets for your team by visiting langleyrivermen.com or call the box office at (604)882-8800.

As for now your up to date.  See you at the rink.
