Huge 4 Points for the 'Riv'

After dropping 2 tough games the week prior against the Chiefs and Bulldogs, the Rivermen had 2 very good interior teams roll into town.  On Friday, the Westside Warriors came to the LEC looking to end their recent 7 game losing skid.  The Warriors came out of the gate with all guns a blazing and scored 2 goals in the opening minute.  Langley did not give up and they were able to tie things up at 2-2 before the first period ended.  In the second, the Rivermen would continue their strong offense with 3 more unanswered goals.  But just after the halfway point of the second frame the Warriors would pot one and the score going into the second intermission was 5-3.  In the third Langley would finish off the Warriors with one more goal from Derek Sutliffe and the Rivermen would defeat the Warriors by a score of 6-3.

On Saturday, the defending champion Vernon Vipers were the opponent for Langley.  Once again a quick goal was scored by the visiting team early on in the contest.  Langley would not let that bother them as they battled hard and tied things up at 1-1 before the conclusion of the opening frame.  Just like the first the Vipers would get the go ahead goal and once again Langley would counter back with one of their own.  These 2 teams went to the dressing room notched at 2-2 after 40 minutes.  Then in the last frame it was all Langley as they handed Vernon their third loss in a row with a final score of 5-2.  Darnell Dyck and Mike Tebbutt were the story this weekend as combined they had 12 points.

Newcomer Richard Coyne looked very poised during this game and look for him to lead by example which will bode well for the Langley Rivermen squad.

Next weekend the Rivermen will play 3 games in 3 nights when they have a home and home with Coquitlam starting in Coquitlam on Friday night then the LEC on Saturday.  On Sunday the Rivermen will play host to Powell River Kings and afterwards its the first skate with the Rivermen following the Sunday game.  So come on out in droves fans and lets have a great weekend of games.

As for now your up to date.  See you at the rink.
