Lose One, Win One for the Rivermen

It was a down and up weekend for the Rivermen and in that particular order.  On Friday the Rivermen made their second trip out to Coquitlam this season to face the Express.  Langley came into this game losing their last 3 straight and Coquitlam was coming off their 5th straight loss.  This game could have gone either way.   The Rivermen played pretty good in this game but were snake bit once again and would not be able to put the puck past ex Langley Chief goaltender Cole Huggins.  Coquitlam potted 2 quick goals past Goaltender Jim Kruger and that would hold up for the remainder of the game as the Express defeat the Rivermen 2-0.

On Saturday the Rivermen were looking to bounce back against a very good Victoria Grizzlies team when the Grizz came to town.  You never would have known that Langley had only 1 goal in their last 3 games as Langley poured it on out of the gate and were able to score 5 unanswered goals past goaltender Garrett Rockafelllow and go into the dressing room with a 5-0 lead.  With spirits up Langley would maintain their 5 goal cushion through the second period.  The third period was another story all together as Victoria made a push to try and make a game out of it.  The Grizz came out in the third and scored 4 unanswered of their own but Mario Puskarich would tally the empty netter and send over a thousand happy fans to the exits with a final score of 6-4.

Today the team moves to the good ol' George Preston Recreation Centre to make room for the World Junior A Challenge which starts Monday November 7-13.  The team will practice out of GPRC for the week in anticipation of their road trip to Chilliwack and Alberni Valley.

As for now your up to date.  See you at the rink.
