Exhibition Over!!! Let The Games Begin!!!

The Rivermen this past weekend wrapped up the 2011 exhibition in style, playing Friday and Saturday night away from home.  The Rivermen fair'd very well in both nights games only dropping 2-1 to Surrey and taking the game against SFU 3-2.  If Fridays game was any indication as to what you can expect come opening night of the BCHL 2011/12 season, then you are definitely going to want to be in both buildings.  It didn't take long for both teams to get well acquainted with one another.  On Saturday the team made the 40 minute trip out to the Bill Copeland arena in Burnaby to face the SFU Clan.  This too was a spirited affair.  Langley held a commanding 2-0 lead with scoring from Mike Tebbutt.  It became quite the nail biter but Langley would be victorious in the end and improve their pre-season record to 2-2.  The coaching staff has quite the task ahead of them as they trim down the roster to 21 players.

On Sunday was another busy day in the community with 2 more events that the Rivermen attended.  The Rivermen were at BBQ on the Bypass, which is a BBQ competition where the best of the best BBQ entrepreneurs bid for cash and prizes for their great BBQ creations.  There was plenty of free food for everyone that attended this event.  Which was perfect for the players as they always seem to have a hole in their stomachs.   The other event was Country Celebrations at Campbell Valley Park.  The players took shifts in attending this event where they handed out some free tickets and some tattoos to some very happy children in attendance.

This is a very busy week for the Langley Rivermen both on and off the ice as the Rivermen will be at Willowbrook Shopping Center from Monday to Sunday.  Make sure you come on down and enter into our draw for 1 of 10 family packs.  And then this Friday it all gets started for real as the Langley Rivermen play the first of a home and home with the Surrey Eagles.  Remember puck drop for both games is 7pm.  If your not able to make it out to Fridays game you can always catch the action with Brandon Astle at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/langley-rivermen-hockey

As for now your up to date.  See you at the rink.
