The Langley Rivermen are just hours away from the start of the 2011/12 BCHL hockey season. The Rivermen make the short journey to South Surrey with a date with the Eagles tonight at 7pm. Although it was nice to have the exhibition games, this is truly what we live for. As much as the naysayers have counted out the Rivermen due to their lack of returning players, expect them to make a very descent run here for a playoff spot. It will be tougher this season for teams to make the playoffs after the BCHL revamped their playoff format, but I think the Rivermen will be just fine and make the playoffs in convincing fashion.
In case you were not aware, the BCHL changed their format for the playoffs this season. Now only the top 4 teams from each conference makes the playoffs. I personally like this approach as teams will have to give it their all right from the start to the finish. We should see which teams are separating the boys from the men so to speak.
After tonight's game you are not going to want to miss tomorrows game @ the LEC. This will be a night you will not want to miss as we celebrate the inaugural season for your Langley Rivermen. Tickets are going fast for this game so you will want to get them sooner rather than miss out. Puck drop is 7pm but you are going to want to get there early for all the festivities that are planned around the Langley Events Centre.
On Sunday we will be on location once again for BC River Days @ Williams Park. Come on down and say hi. I will be there so bring your cameras as I love to take photos with the fans.
